The New World

I have decided to write a satire on the Spanish Colonialists in South America. I will look over The Buried Mirror by Carlos Fuentos- A history book that I read a few years go. I will also look over the diaries and letters of Columbus and may tell it from his point of view. I sort of want to show him as a someone who takes himself too seriously, ignorant to the suffering of others, and trying his best to please his bosses back home despite dealing with one disaster after another.

A good place to start would be when Columbus reaches Cuba and thinks that is in Asia. On an island off the coast of China to be exact. An island were there is a disappointing lack of Gold and will not keep Queen Isabel of Castile happy.

  1. Despite having literally just turned around to tell you this, your idea is awesome. I like the idea of satirizing Columbus to make the point, I think it'll hit pretty hard I'm looking forward to reading some!
